The Most Unusual Scented Candles
Autumn brings the season of pumpkin spice, the smell of golden and brown leaves on the ground after the rain, and earthy, woody scents.
But there are some peculiar scented candles available that not everyone will want to have in their homes and some that might be more tempting, such as Aldi’s Jaffa cake scented candles. We have a look at some of the more unusual scents and the unusual price tags!
If you literally have money to burn, then designer Tom Dixon has launched a candle with the scent of the River Thames as it passes Dagenham. It apparently has notes inspired by red brick, the crocuses and nettles in London parks and the salty smell of the Thames in Dagenham, although the Thames is more well known for having a less than favourable smell.
But if you’re tempted, it will set you back £450!
Maybe you want something a little more intimate? A hint of rose, with a peculiar note that makes it smell a little sexual? Then perhaps Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ candle might be for you!
Its marketing says ‘This is made with geranium, citrusy bergamot and cedar absolutes, juxtaposed with damask rose and ambrette seed, to put us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth.’
Few people will be able to confirm the accuracy of the scent to Gwyneth’s lady parts, and it will cost you £73 to discover the scent for yourself. Possibly preferable to £450 worth of the River Thames!
One scent that might appeal to many more people is an offering from a Welsh candle maker with ‘A truly authentic fragrance of sizzling bacon . . . perfect to get everyone ready for an all-day breakfast’ and with a £13 price for fried breakfast connoisseurs everywhere!
